Recover Password stored in Internet Explorer Password Manager

I had to login to a Web Application @ work today and everything was good till I was prompted to reset my password. I had my user name and password saved in the built Internet Explorer Password Manager and I couldn’t remember the password anymore.

That’s when I remembered the Developer Tools. So I cancelled the Change Password operation and went back to the Login page, launched Developer tools.

The next step was to go to DOM Explorer, Click the Select Element Icon as shown below. The cursor changes to a selector. Selected the texbox with the masked password. The HTML code below now displays the code and embedded within it was the password that the Browser has saved.

Another reason to not use the built in Password Manager. Be safe!
